HCPC Registered Specialist Occupational Therapist

This is a unique opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary team supporting children with various language needs between of ages 2 to 11 years old.

You must have experience of working with children in the autism spectrum disorder and have the desire and passion to learn and develop new skills, to join our friendly and supportive team.

 

About the Role

Applications will only be considered from Occupational Therapists who are currently registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Part of your ole will involve working with autistic children on a one-to-one basis, delivering evidence-based Occupational Therapy interventions while also playing an active role in the assessment process.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will complete Occupational Therapy assessments, contribute to multidisciplinary assessments, analyse clinical findings and develop individualised intervention programmes that support children’s sensory processing, functional independence, emotional regulation, motor development and participation in everyday activities.

You will receive regular clinical supervision and mentoring, with a structured pathway to develop specialist skills and progress towards Band 6.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Working Pattern

  • Wednesday to Friday: 11:00am – 7:00pm
  • Saturday & Sunday: 9:00am – 5:00pm
  • Monday & Tuesday: Days off

 

Location: Walthamstow, Bromley and Kilburn, London

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver high-quality one-to-one Occupational Therapy sessions to autistic children and children with additional needs.
  • Complete comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments using both standardised and non-standardised assessment tools.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary assessments alongside Speech and Language Therapists and Autism Specialists.
  • Analyse assessment findings and formulate evidence-based intervention plans.
  • Produce high-quality written Occupational Therapy assessment reports and recommendations.
  • Develop and implement individual therapy programmes.
  • Carry out sensory, motor and functional assessments.
  • Recommend sensory strategies, environmental adaptations and equipment where appropriate.
  • Manage an independent paediatric caseload.
  • Work collaboratively with families, schools and other professionals.
  • Support Occupational Therapy Assistants and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in clinically related administration.
  • Create and maintain therapy resources.
  • Attend multidisciplinary meetings, clinical supervision and service development meetings.
  • Participate in staff training and contribute to audits, research and quality improvement projects.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Current HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist (essential).
  • A minimum of one year’s post-qualification experience (Band 5 level).
  • Experience delivering one-to-one Occupational Therapy to autistic children.
  • Experience independently completing Occupational Therapy assessments and producing comprehensive clinical reports.
  • Experience managing an independent paediatric caseload.
  • Excellent understanding of Autism and sensory processing differences.
  • Knowledge of sensory integration principles and functional interventions.
  • Experience working closely with families and multidisciplinary professionals.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Excellent written English and report-writing skills.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • £36,000–£40,000 salary, depending on experience.
