HCPC Registered Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

About the Role:

Applications will only be considered from Speech and Language Therapists who are currently registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

SEND & Sensory is seeking an enthusiastic HCPC Registered Speech and Language Therapist with a minimum of one year’s post-qualification experience who is looking to progress from Band 5 towards Band 6 within a specialist Autism service.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing multidisciplinary team specialising in Autism and complex communication needs. You will primarily work with autistic children on a 1:1 basis, delivering evidence-based assessments and therapy programmes whilst receiving regular clinical supervision, mentoring and ongoing professional development.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Working Pattern

  • Wednesday to Friday: 11:00am – 7:00pm
  • Saturday & Sunday: 9:00am – 5:00pm
  • Monday & Tuesday: Days off

 

Location: Bromley and Kilburn, London

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver high-quality one-to-one Speech and Language Therapy to autistic children and children with additional communication needs.
  • Complete comprehensive speech, language and communication assessments using standardised and informal assessment tools.
  • Analyse assessment findings and formulate evidence-based therapy plans.
  • Produce high-quality written reports and clinical recommendations.
  • Manage your own clinical caseload independently.
  • Work collaboratively with families, schools and other professionals.
  • Supervise, support and develop Speech and Language Therapy Assistants.
  • Participate in clinically related administration.
  • Create and maintain therapy resources.
  • Contribute to service audits, quality improvement initiatives and research projects.
  • Attend multidisciplinary team meetings, clinical supervision and service development meetings.
  • Participate in staff training and contribute to the ongoing development of the clinical team.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Current HCPC registration as a Speech and Language Therapist (essential).
  • A minimum of one year’s post-qualification experience (Band 5 level).
  • Experience providing one-to-one Speech and Language Therapy to autistic children.
  • Experience supervising Therapy Assistants or junior staff.
  • Experience independently completing speech and language assessments, interpreting assessment findings and writing comprehensive clinical reports.
  • Experience independently managing a paediatric caseload.
  • Experience working closely with families and multidisciplinary professionals.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of Autism and neurodiversity-affirming practice.
  • Knowledge of a range of communication approaches and evidence-based intervention strategies.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Excellent written English and report-writing skills.
  • Strong IT skills, including the use of specialist communication software where appropriate.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage complex clinical presentations, taking account of cultural and linguistic differences.

  • £35,000–£39,000 salary, depending on experience and skills.
